What a Year

As the end of 2019 quickly approaches, I realize I haven't written a word in this blog all year. If only you knew that vast changes that have whisked into my world this year and last. Sometimes I think, "did I accomplish anything?" But I forget to savor those wins, so taking a moment to say, "yeah, I did."

I wrote a book. I mean it still feels like a work in progress, but I did do it. I have a few things to clean up and then figure out distribution, but it's likely coming soon. That's probably why you haven't heard much from me actually. The irony is that the original piece was supposed to be a blog...but it kept growing.

I worked hard at healing from my car accident from last year. Between physical therapy and finally succombing to injection, I have gotten to the point that I can participate in all of my fun activities even though it's not 100% healed. That's the beauty of it. I may not be 100% what I was before the accident, but I'm tolerating what still lingers. Docs say it's a 50/50 on how that will heal since nerves were hurt, but I'm alive, I'm moving, and I'm grateful.

I had a few health things pop up, but all in all, doing just fine.

I traveled!! So I had never been to Europe and I got to go this year. That's by far the most exotic traveling, but I also have been all over the US map this year too. The best is getting to spend so much amazing quality time with my family. You know, I left home at the age of 18. I learned to detach and stay focused. Let me tell you...taking in all the things I've learned in the last few years have helped me reattach and open myself to more meaningful filling relationships. I've now been able to extend that into my family life again, but in such a more mature healthy way. I'm so incredibly blessed to have all of the unique members of my family, infuencing and supporting my ways. They've been the place to cry, to hide, to smile, to laugh, to feel joy, to feel connection, to allow me to be useful. I can't tell you how important and uplifting this has been for me. I know not every family experience is the same, but if you find a way to be present in your family (if you're currently not), I can't recommend it enough.

I've gotten to be a part of the growth of a company I'm extremely passionate about. When my friends asked me to join them in their new venture, I knew that it was right. We have the same convictions and we truly want to do good. It's an incredible feeling to know that you're working to make things just a little better for everyone.

I've done so much script writing this year!! Who knows where they will land, but that has been such a blast. Projects that got pushed or lost in the dust are still wins in my humble opinion, so I'll claim those as well. I've gotten to direct small skit/stage events and learning as much as possible so I can be involved in a full production. I can't wait to dig into the next one. And I did actually get in a little acting this year too. It's been slow on that front, but don't worry...I have LOTS of other things to do in between.

So I guess in my year end letter to you, I just want to say thanks for sticking around. Thanks for still reading when I finally get around to posting. Thanks for taking a look at my fun little projects as they come about. Thanks for making me feel special on my birthday and holidays. This isn't my traditional blog, but just a note to update and show gratitude.
